delicious simple and quick dim sum
Ingredients
- Ground pork
- Green cabbage or napa cabbage finely chopped
- Medium-sized carrot, grated finely
- Green onions, finely chopped
- Fresh ginger, grated
- Finely chopped garlic
- Soy sauce
- Sesame oil
- Optional oyster sauce
- Sugar
- Salt
- White or black pepper
- Cornstarch
- Round dumpling noodles or wonton noodles
- Parchment paper, cabbage leaves, or a little oil for the steamer basket
- Soy sauce
- Rice vinegar
- Sesame oil
- Grated ginger
- Honey or sugar
- A few drops of hot sauce (optional)
Instructions
- Place the shredded cabbage in a bowl with a small pinch of salt. Let it rest for 10 minutes, then gently press with your hands or a clean cloth to remove some water. This prevents the filling from being too wet.
- In a large bowl, mix together the ground pork, cabbage, carrot, green onions, ginger, garlic, soy sauce, sesame oil, oyster sauce, sugar, salt, pepper, and cornstarch.
- Mix until the preparation becomes slightly sticky and well homogeneous.
- Place about 1 tsp of filling in the center of each wrapper.
- Gently moisten the edge with water, then fold and pinch to form a half-circle or small dumpling-style pleat. Seal well.
- Place the formed dumplings on a lightly floured or parchment-lined baking sheet.
- Line the steamer basket with perforated parchment paper, cabbage leaves, or a light oil film to prevent the dumplings from sticking.
- Arrange the dim sum in the basket, leaving a small space between each one.
- Bring water to a boil under the steamer basket.
- Cook the dim sum for 10-12 minutes, until the dough is tender and the pork filling is well cooked.
- Mix all the sauce ingredients together in a small bowl.
- Serve with the hot dim sum.
