Homemade pizza dough.
Ingredients
- (1 cup) warm water
- (1 tsp) instant yeast
- (1 tsp) sugar
- (4 cups) all-purpose unbleached flour
- (1 tsp) salt
Instructions
- In a bowl, mix water, yeast, and sugar. Let it rest until the mixture foams on top, about 5 minutes.
- Use a plastic blade or dough hook in your stand mixer. Mix flour and salt. Run the mixer at medium speed and add the yeast mixture until a soft ball forms.
- Remove the dough from the bowl and knead on a lightly floured surface for a few minutes. Shape the dough into a ball and place it in a clean, lightly oiled bowl. Cover with a clean cloth and let rise in a warm, humid place for 30 minutes.
- Cut the dough in half. Use the pizza dough immediately or wrap it in plastic wrap and refrigerate (less than 48 hours), or freeze.
- This recipe makes 2 pizzas with thin crusts of 23 cm (9 inches) or 2 pizzas with thicker crusts of 20 cm (8 inches).
- This pizza dough recipe is very simple and takes only 10 minutes to prepare. We propose making it with a robot, but this is not necessary. If you don't have a robot, form a well in the flour and salt and pour the liquid ingredients into the center. Work with your hands by gradually adding the dry ingredients to the wet ingredients. What's important is getting a soft dough. Let the dough rise in a warm and humid place, such as an off oven, with the light on and a bowl of water.
